Autism

The Electroretinogram (ERG) in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

The aim of this project is to measure the b-wave of the light–adapted ERG in children with and without a diagnosis of autism. The b-wave of the ERG relies on glutamate and neural signalling that have been shown to be different in autism. The hope is that the ERG waveforms produced may inform our understanding of Central Nervous System development and function.

Interactive video and anxiety in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the eye-examination

In this study we have developed an interactive 3D video of Flinders Vision for children attending the Autism Centre for an eye-examination. The video is designed to prepare them for the space and the sight-test ahead of arriving. A comparison with typical children and the impact of the interactive video on reducing anxiety is on-going.
